Molly is a black Pug that has been coming monthly for grooming since she was a puppy. She can’t stop kissing, which has earned her the affectionate nickname of “Kissypants.”
  • Scissors
“Good morning, Molly,” I say as I take her from her owner’s arms.
  • Dog
Molly: “Missed you! Missed you!” As she kisses my cheek twice and my hand once.
  • Scissors
“I missed you too, honey,” I say and I give her a kiss on her head.
  • Dog
Molly: Wagging wildly in my arms, “Mom told me I was coming to see you!”
  • Scissors
“I know. I’m glad you’re here, honey. My assistant Angie will come get you in just a minute for your bath,” I tell her as I put her in a crate.
  • Dog
Molly: “Wait!” She turns around and puts her front feet on my shoulders to give me two more kisses. “OK, there. Now I’m ready.”
  • Scissors
“OK, good,” I say with a chuckle.
  • Scissors
A short time later, I peek into her crate and see her already asleep on her heated towel.

“Hey sleepy girl, you ready for your finish?” I ask.

  • Dog
Molly: Her eyeballs pop open. “I’m ready!” She stretches and then wags.
  • Scissors
“You couldn’t really have been asleep, you’ve been in there maybe five minutes,” I say as I open the crate door.
  • Dog
Molly: “Recharging my kiss battery. Angie needed a lot of kisses so I needed a quick nap.”
  • Scissors
“Oh, OK. Well, let’s get you finished, shall we?” I say with a smile as I carry her to the table.
  • Dog
    Molly: “I love spa days.”
  • Scissors
“Oh, I know. Trust me,” I say as I grab my rotary tool, mask and finger guards and set her on the table.
  • Dog
Molly looks at the nail filing equipment and sighs.
  • Scissors
“I know, but you can do this. It’ll only be a couple minutes, so no kissing,” I advise.
  • Dog
    Molly: “I can’t. I just can’t.”
  • Scissors
“I believe in you. You’ve got this,” I assure her.
  • Dog
Molly: “Must kiss!!!” As her tongue darts in and out.
  • Scissors
“Two nails to go,” I say.
  • Dog
Molly’s tail begins wagging madly, and the second I turn off the rotary tool she explodes in kisses.
  • Scissors
I lift my head so she kisses my neck instead of my face and say, “OK…thank you. Yes, all kissed. We good now?”
  • Dog
Molly: Sighs and returns to all fours, “OK, yeah, we’re good.”
  • Scissors
“Great, let’s get your picture taken while Angie calls your Mom,” I say as I carry her into the picture room.
  • Dog
Molly: “OK!” As she kisses my neck and wags so hard her body vibrates.
  • Scissors
“Nice job, Molly! You’re a good girl!” I tell her as I offer her a treat for getting her picture taken.
  • Dog
Molly: Launching off the small bed into my arms, “No treats! Kisses!” And gives me another flurry of kisses.
  • Scissors
I hand her to her owner and she gives her Mom one kiss and then relaxes in her arms.

“One? That’s it? One kiss?” I ask.

  • Dog
Molly: “I’m exhausted. I used up all my kisses.”
  • Scissors
I give her a kiss on her head and say, “OK, you go home and nap and recharge your kiss battery, Kissypants.”
  • Dog
Molly: “Wait! Don’t go! One more kiss?”
  • Scissors
I lean over and let her give me one last kiss and utter,
  • Yes, Dear...
